Description
You don’t need anything especially fancy when your only mission is to train and have fun with your AR-style rifle. You just need a case of Magtech’s 5.56×45 M193 ammunition!
Newer shooters often worry that the “M193” designation means ammo is too specialized for their purposes. If that’s you, don’t fret it. M193 is basically the U.S. military’s name for “vanilla” 5.56, which makes this ammo perfect for everyday target shooting!
The M193 projectile is a 55 grain full metal jacket. Its jacket contains no steel and can’t attract a magnet. The jacket also possesses a cannelure (that little ridgy band you see just above the case mouth), which acts to prevent the bullet from shifting backward when recoil jerks it around in a semi-auto’s magazine. The FMJ achieves a muzzle velocity of 3,265 feet per second when it exits a 20” barrel’s muzzle, at which rate it’s able to follow a satisfyingly flat trajectory. And although the FMJ doesn’t deliver the expanding terminal ballistics that are recommended for hunting medium game, it has got the ability to break apart into fragments following close-to-medium range impact.
