Shipping Policy

Our goal is to ship your order within one business day. Possible exceptions include:

  • Items which require custom assembly or Cerakote
  • FFL items
  • Adverse Weather Conditions

If our fulfillment times are delayed more than 1-2 days, then we will put a notice in the header of our website and/or specific product pages (regulated/FFL/NFA items), informing shoppers of the delay. Also please note that during busy shopping times, carriers too can experience delays which are outside of our control.

Shipping Address Accuracy & Returned Shipments

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout. If an order is shipped before an address correction is received and results in a carrier address correction or return to sender (RTS), the customer is responsible for all associated carrier fees, including:

  • Address correction
  • Return shipping
  • Reshipment costs

These fees may be deducted from any applicable refund or required prior to reshipment. Once a package has entered the carrier’s network, delivery and shipping fees cannot be guaranteed or recovered.

Multiple Fulfillments

Orders may ship in multiple packages depending on inventory location or regulated item requirements. These are indicated by order suffixes such as:

  • -1, -2
  • -NC
  • -CA

Regulated and non-regulated items may be split into separate shipments. Orders cannot be combined after placement. You can track each fulfillment using the Order Lookup feature.

Shipping Methods & Signature Protection

  • Orders under 40 lbs
    • Qualify for free FedEx 2-Day shipping
    • Exclusions may apply (ammunition, hazmat, CO2 cartridges, rifle bags/cases)
  • Orders over 40 lbs and $50+
    • Qualify for free standard shipping.
    • Carrier and service level are chosen at our discretion.
  • Special requests: If you prefer a specific carrier or have delivery instructions, include these in your order notes—we’ll make every effort to accommodate them.
  • Signature confirmation: Orders over $300 may require a signature upon delivery for customer protection. You may opt out by requesting this in your order notes; however, if signature is declined, Dirty Bird cannot replace lost or stolen packages.
  • In the event an order is marked delivered but you are unable to locate; if the order value is over $600, we may require a police report to include in a claim with the carrier.

Delayed, Missing & Damaged Packages

  • Delayed in Transit
If tracking shows movement but your order hasn’t arrived by the carrier’s estimated delivery date, please allow up to 3 business days past that date before contacting us — most transit delays resolve within this window. If tracking shows no scan activity for 5 or more calendar days, contact us right away so we can look into it.
  • Missing or Lost in Transit
If your order remains missing after the delay window above, contact us and we’ll offer a replacement or refund. We’ll confirm the shipping address on file as part of this process.
  • Marked “Delivered” but Not Received
If tracking shows delivered but you’re unable to locate your package, contact us within 3 days of the delivery date. For orders under $600, we’ll work with you directly to resolve the issue. For orders of $600 or more, a police report may be required before we can file a claim with the carrier, consistent with our package protection terms.
  • Damaged in Transit
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the item and packaging. Once received, we’ll arrange a replacement or refund.
  • General
All shipping issues are reviewed on a per-order basis. Repeated claims on the same account may require additional review before resolution.

Tracking – Label Created/Not Scanned

Due to the volume of packages shipped daily, carriers typically do not scan each individual package at pickup. Instead, they may scan an End of Day manifest or provide the first physical scan once the package arrives at a sorting facility.

Once tracking has been assigned, your order has been fulfilled, packaged, and is awaiting carrier pickup. We do not print shipping labels until boxes are taped and mailers are sealed.

Because of this process, tracking may show:

  • “Label Created”
  • “Carrier Awaiting Package”
  • “Shipment Ready for UPS/FedEx/USPS”

for a short period before updating.

Tracking delays are most commonly caused by:

  • Missed acceptance scans by the carrier
  • Packages receiving their first scan at a sorting hub
  • Carrier contractors handling pickups without individual scanners
  • Increased shipping volume during holidays or sales events

In most cases, tracking updates once the package reaches the next carrier facility, typically within 1–5 business days.

At Dirty Bird USA, we don’t want you waiting and wondering. If your tracking hasn’t updated within 5 business days, reach out to us and we’ll personally follow up with the carrier on your behalf.

Please note: we cannot file a formal trace request, package search, or claim until the carrier scans the package into their system — but we’re happy to check in with them proactively so you’re not the one chasing it down.

Senate bill 704 (SB-704) – Effective July 1, 2027

To be effective July 1, 2027, California Senate Bill 704 (SB-704) places restrictions on the sale of firearm barrels sold separately from a complete firearm. Under this law, standalone firearm barrels cannot be shipped directly to a California resident and must be shipped to a California-licensed firearms dealer (FFL) for transfer.

The purchaser will be required to complete a California Department of Justice eligibility check, similar to the process required when purchasing a complete firearm. The receiving dealer is required to record and submit the transaction to the state. Full electronic reporting will be required beginning July 1, 2027, and a processing fee of up to $5 may be charged by the dealer.
