When building an AR, many shooters will mimic what the US Military has done because they have the time and money to test multiple platforms, calibers, and combinations. In 2017, US Spec Ops Command or USSOC tested the 762×51 NATO, .260 Rem, and the 6.5 Creedmoor. The 6.5 Creedmoor was determined to be the winner among the three with a longer effective range, less wind drift effect, and less recoil than the other two calibers. The ODIN Works 22″ Tactical Match Profile SS Barrel comes from the factory with the superbly accurate 6.5 Creedmoor chamber. It comes with a custom gas set up that is 2″ longer than the traditional rifle length AR gas system. The reduced dwell time of the ODIN Works XL Rifle system offers the possibility of reduced impulse feel and increased accuracy. It can also take cartridges with higher pressures. The 5/8×24 muzzle thread pattern to fit standard AR-10 / LR308 muzzle devices, factory M4 type feed ramps for easy feeding, and a Button-Rifled 1:8″ twist rate (meaning as the bullet travels down the barrel, it makes 1 complete rotation every 8″ inches). This hand-lapped 22″ inch barrel weighs in at 3 pounds 6 ounces, and has the ODIN Works factory Tactical Match Profile! On top of all of that, this ODIN Works barrel comes with a FREE Tunable Stainless Steel Gas Block that allows you to tune your AR for various types of ammo. It also includes a FREE Rifle+2 Gas Tube. These two freebies are a sweet bonus and save you cash on your new long range rifle build!

NOTE: No other cartridge has the buzz that has been created surrounding the 6.5 Creedmoor lately. After plenty of testing and results by US Spec Ops Command, the 6.5 Creedmoor was shown to be the better cartridge of the 3 tested. Now, 6.5 Creedmoor is set to take the place of the aging 7.62 NATO caliber by replacing the existing US Military Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle 7.62×51 NATO caliber barrels with new 6.5 Creedmoor ones. The 6.5 Creedmoor and the 7.62×51 are so similar in size that the only change needed is the barrel. Even the magazines from the current 7.62×51 NATO rifles work with the new 6.5 Creedmoor round.
NOTE: 416R is a Crucible brand steel and it was formulated specifically for barrels. Most types of steel, including normal 416SS are not designed to be used in freezing temperatures. But this steel was designed to operate in arctic temperatures, up to -40F. 416R also has greater accuracy potential than normal 416SS and 4150 steel due to its ability to take highly defined rifling and machining cuts.
(All DI barrels include a free stainless steel adjustable gas block. 22″ 6.5 Creedmoor barrels also include a free gas tube.)
