Michael Earnest – Director of E-Commerce
My name is Michael Earnest. I am the Director of E-Commerce for Dirty Bird Industries. I have a Bachelorโs Degree in Business Administration & Management. I started working with the company in 2018 as a customer service representative. Iโve always had an interest in firearms since I was a kid and found a perfect opportunity to grow in the firearms industry with DBI.
My favorite part about working here is the camaraderie I have with my team. One of my favorite achievements was coordinating the Dirty Bird onboarding into the Sports Inc buy group. My favorite firearm is the AR-15 chambered in .333 ARC. Some advice I would give to someone new to firearms is to buy parts or firearms you feel you need. Donโt let outside influences control what you think you need. Always save for a great optic, trigger, and barrel.
Jennifer Hernandez – Office Manager
My name is Jennifer Hernandez. I am the Office Manager for Dirty Bird Industries. I have an Associates Degree in Human Services. I started working with the company in 2019 in Customer Service. When I started, I had only been to the range a couple of times throughout my life, but my job is what really got me into the firearms industry.
My favorite part about working here is the people I work with, my fellow employees, managers and of course, the owners. We all strive to make this place feel like you are working with family, which I think we do a pretty good job of! My favorite firearm- most of my experience has been with an AR-15 (first purchase) but I just picked up a 9mm and looking to get some experience under my belt with that next! With so many different calibers, brands, set ups and configurations, it can be overwhelming if you are completely new to firearms.
The advice I would give to someone new to firearms is knowledge will come with time. Donโt be afraid to ask questions. Given the nature of the industry, itโs better to be 100% then to give the wrong information.
David Martinez – Operations Manager
My name is David Martinez. I am the Operations Manager for Dirty Bird Industries. I started working with the company in 2020. Iโve always had a passion for firearms. I joined the industry through my wife. She happened to be the server at a restaurant one of the owners would frequently visit. He mentioned that he was looking to hire more staff. My wife passed the information on to me, then I applied for the position. I was eventually hired as a shipping associate. I worked my way in to becoming an Armory Associate position, then became the Armory Coordinator. Ultimately, I decided to continue my growth with the company where I am now the Operations Manager.
One of my favorite things about working here is seeing and being part of the development of our team members We have a solid team of dedicated employees who share my passion for this industry. My favorite firearm platform is the AR-15. It is incredibly modular and customizable. Bolt actions are another favorite of mine. My dream setup Iโm still chasing will most likely be a custom bold gun in 6mm PRC.
Some advice I would give to someone new to the industry- I would say donโt rush into anything. There are many options out there and it can be overwhelming. If you are looking to do your first build, do your research. Contact us for advice on parts compatibility and technical questions. We are happy to help with that.
If you have a passion for firearms and want to get into the industry, look for openings at a company you already like. Get your foot in the door and work towards the position you want!
James Mellinger – Store Manager
My name is James Mellinger. I am the Store Manager here at Dirty Bird Industries. I started working with the company in Marketing in 2023. I am also a Firearm Safety Instructor. I have a background in the USPSA division, B Class PPC. Iโve always had a passion for firearms and tactical training. My favorite part about working with the company would be seeing the new innovative products we offer, being able to test products and giving my honest feedback to customers.
My favorite firearm platform would be the 2011 Open Gun. After shooting with USPSA PCC, I was drawn to the open guns. Itโs quite something to push your skills to be at the next level on any platform. USPSA open is challenging and exciting! From making major power factors which are a measure of bullet weight and velocity gear selection.
Iโm currently building my custom 2011 open gun that I plan to shoot the 2026 USPSA season with. Some advice I would give someone new to the firearms industry would be to take the time to find what works for you. And be sure to train as often as possible.
