One of the hardest parts about adding accessories to your AR-15 can be switching out the factory forend for a KeyMod, M-LOK, or Picatinny rail set up. The usual procedure involves the removal of the muzzle device, front sight tower and gas block, forend and hardware, gas tube, and the barrel nut. Then, once all of that was disassembled, you would shim the barrel nut and test the fit to make sure the gas tube could fit through the hole at the “12 o’clock” position. During this process, you would also be making sure that the top rail on the new forend lines up with the receiver rail for optic alignment. Then once all that was done correctly, you would go back through and reinstall the parts you removed. But now, the entire process of shimming and lining up the barrel nut and gas tube is no longer required. During the designing of the Ragna Handguard, ODIN Works also re-thought the AR-15 barrel nut and built one that was small enough so it didn’t interfere with the gas tubes’ location or install.
